GileS is a proud Dallas native who has been making waves in the music industry for the past ten years. A true artist in every sense, he writes and records all of his own music, bringing his unique touch to the world of R&B. While R&B is his first love—the genre that speaks to his soul—he also dabbles in alternative sounds, blending different influences to create something fresh yet nostalgic.
His mission is simple yet powerful: to build a life and legacy through his God-given talents. Having worked in both food service and retail, GileS quickly realized that his purpose was far greater than just clocking in and out of a job. He knew he was destined to make music at the highest level—to create, perform, and share his gift with the world. Music isn’t just a career for him; it’s his lifeline. It carries him through every single day, hour by hour, fueling his passion and purpose.
His journey into music was sparked by an unexpected source—watching Michael Jackson: American Dream. Something about that story ignited a fire within him, making him realize, This is the life I’m meant to lead. That moment of inspiration led him down the path to becoming the artist he is today.
In 2020, GileS officially embraced his name as his artistic identity, believing it carried the essence of a true R&B singer. Much like Jaheim or Elgin (Ginuwine), he felt his name had a natural rhythm and uniqueness that set him apart. While he briefly experimented with other stage names, “GileS” was the one that stuck—it felt right, authentic, and true to who he is as an artist.
One of the most unforgettable moments of his career was his performance at SXSW. In a wild turn of events, he ended up throwing up on stage—yet still powered through his set like a true professional. Not only did he finish strong, but he also walked away with offers, proving that even in the most unpredictable moments, his talent and resilience shine through.
Though he hasn’t collaborated with major industry figures in recent years, GileS has had his share of big moments. Back in 2012, he had the incredible opportunity to be a background singer on Kirk Franklin’s uplifting hit Smile. Today, he is known as “Dallas’ best-kept secret,” but he has no doubt that this is about to change. He feels a major shift coming, and the world is about to see what he’s truly capable of.
Right now, GileS is focused on pushing his first album, BAE SEASON2. This project is a testament to his artistry, showcasing his creativity, attention to detail, and deep appreciation for the classic R&B sounds that have shaped him. It’s a blend of everything he loves about music, wrapped into one soulful experience. And he’s just getting started—he has some exciting collaborations on the way, set to drop later this year.
